Grand Canyon trip
Grand Canyon trip Six Day Tour ... Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon, Lake Powell, Zion,
Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend and more!

The six day tour is a combination of our popular three day Grand Canyon tour and our three day Yellowstone tour. Instead of returning to Las Vega sat the end of the third day, you continue on to Salt Lake City.

Leaving from Las Vegas, the first major stop is Zion National Park. We will take a slow drive through the park, stopping frequently to take pictures and admire the views. You can go horseback riding at a ranch just outside the park, if you choose.

From Zion we travel to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. In our opinion the views at the North Rim are far more spectacular than those at the South. In addition, the North Rim is deserted compared to the South. Only about 10% of visitors go to the North Rim.

The road from the Grand Canyon to Lake Powell drops down from the Kaibab Plateau to the Navajo reservation below. You cross over a particularly scenic view of the Colorado River far below, before spending the night in Page, on the shores of Lake Powell.

First up on the second morning of the tour is a float trip down the Colorado River, from the Lake Powell dam wall all the way to Lee's Ferry, the start of the Grand Canyon. This is a smooth water trip, which anyone can do. You will see the canyon walls towering far above you as you float down the mighty Colorado.

From there we will travel across Navajo Nation land to Monument Valley, where you will take a back country tour. The tour is conducted by a Navajo, in a converted off road vehicle. The night is once again spent in Page.

Horseshoe Bend is an incredibly beautiful overlook of the Colorado River, seen through the canyon walls far below. You will take a hike there to start the third day of your tour. Next is another Navajo guided off road tour, this time to Antelope Canyon, one of the finest slot canyons known to man. On the way out of Page we will stop at a picturesque overlook of Lake Powell, to admire the blue water and submerged golden canyons.

From Lake Powell we will make our way to Bryce Canyon. There is no doubt that Bryce presents one of the most amazing sights you will see in your life. You can walk a section of the rim trail, and we will take you to the main overlooks of the amphitheater. Also at Bryce is the opportunity to go for an ATV ride.

Instead of returning to Vegas, as we do on the regular three day tour, you will now be taken to Salt Lake City, in northern Utah, where you will spend the night at the downtown Crystal Inn.

On day four of your six day tour you will head up through Utah and Idaho, into Montana and the tiny town of West Yellowstone. This is the closest town to Yellowstone National Park, and your motel, Al's Westward Ho, is the closest motel to the park, which is literally right across a small road. We will get you up to Yellowstone in time to take an optional horseback ride across the high meadows, mountains or forests of Montana, between the continental divide and West Yellowstone. Not only is dinner served in our Cafe, but all meals are provided on the second three days of the trip.

The roads through Yellowstone make up a huge figure of eight, and today we will be exploring the top circle of the eight, known as the upper loop. The upper loop tour generally includes a lot of wildlife, including elk and bison. With any luck you may see bears or wolves. The major stops include:
Mammoth Hot Springs, the park headquarters, and home to an ever changing assortment of terraces and springs. There is generally a herd of elk in the area.
The Lamar Valley, know for its wildlife and lush vegetation.
Norris Geyser Basin, split into the Back Basin and and Basin. You will have time to walk through some of both.
Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone - one of Yellowstone's best kept secrets, and some spectacular falls over which the Yellowstone River plunges.
Other stops include Tower Falls, Dunraven Pass, Calcite Springs, Virginia Cascade and Obsidian Cliff. Of course, whenever we see something of interest we stop anyway!

The night is once again spent at Al's in West Yellowstone, before doing the Lower Loop of Yellowstone tomorrow.

.The sights you will see on day six include ...
Upper Geyser Basin and Old Faithful, Old Faithful Inn and other geysers
Lower Geyser Basin and Fountain Paint Pots, plus other geysers
Midway Geyser Basin, and Grand Prismatic Spring (right)
West Thumb on the shores of the incredibly blue Yellowstone Lake
A lot more wildlife and other thermal features.

From Yellowstone we go to Grand Teton National Park and its towering mountains and glorious lakes.  The western, cowboy town of Jackson is right outside the park, and you can explore that, before going river rafting on the Snake River. The tour finishes in Salt Lake City.
